The skin patch process, just as the name sounds, entails applying a thin layer of asphalt. It is used to build up low areas prior to applying an overlay or seal coat. It is primarily used to resolve water flow issues or to minimize ruts and uneven asphalt prior to the next procedure.

Allied crews clean the area to receive the new skin patch. Clean surfaces bond together better and last longer.

After cleaning, CSS1H tack material is applied.

Finally, Allied crews patch the area with the required thickness, typically 1 to 2 inches for a skin patch.
